Himachal Pradesh, as its name suggests, is a "region of snowy mountains", with elevations range from about 350 meters (1,148 ft) to 7,000 meters (22,966 ft). It has several perennial rivers criss-crossing the region, which are important sources of drinking water and irrigation for the plains below.
For the traveler, the state offers an incredible array of sights to behold: ancient temples, exhilarating treks, fruit orchards and wild flowers, vibrantly colored birds, elusive alpine mammals, quaint villages, intricate crafts, Buddhist monasteries, to name a few. Villages in the state ooze with charm and warm hospitality that will be hard to spot in any other part of the country.
Our trips in the state currently explore three very special districts of the state: Chamba, Kangra and Kullu.

Chamba
Poised in the north-western part of the state, this district was the most ancient kingdom in the northern hills of India. The region is home to several ancient temples, numerous treks and lovely arts and crafts. The Chamba "Rumaal" (handkerchief"), with embroidery that mirrors one side to the other, is a classic souvenir.
Kangra
Adjoining Chamba, Kagra is famous for its ancient relics and artwork, especially Kangra miniature paintings. Dharamshala, the most popular town in Kangra, is the home of Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Government in exile. We will explore this region through its Buddhist institutions (including monasteries and an art preservation center), ruins of an ancient temple, treks, village walks, camping and a visit to an award-winning social enterprise.
Kullu
The district is a feast for the active traveler and history buff. We explore the region through its intricately carved stone and wood temples, exhilarating treks, camping near sacred lakes and rustic rambles.
